I edited this article a bit to keep the blurb short: you can follow the links to get to the full article and the specs of the project: P.E.I. firm designing first hybrid tug

The Guardian

It’s not only hybrid cars that are becoming more popular.

A P.E.I. engineering company is designing the world’s first hybrid tugboat, the Eco-Tug.

Xero Point, a company affiliated with Aspin, Kemp and Associates, is working with an American company that commissioned a marine propulsion system for a tugboat.

Xero Point, which designs a lot of renewable energy products, started designing the system originally for a sailboat or a catamaran, said Jason Aspin, CEO of Aspin, Kemp and Associates.

“In the process of developing that, we were approached by Foss Maritime Company, which is the largest harbour tug operator in the United States, about two years ago.”

(big cut here)

“Lots of harbours are clamping down and saying that tug operators have to reduce emissions and there’s not very many options as far as doing that. This is one of the only ones, really,” said Aspin.

Israeli couple forgets daughter, 3, at airport

And this one. I don’t have kids and I don’t want to judge… yet I am judging — it took them 40 minutes in the air to notice their child was missing?

JERUSALEM–An Israeli couple going on a European vacation remembered to take their duty-free purchases and their 18 suitcases, but forgot their 3-year-old daughter at the airport, police said yesterday.

The couple and their five children were late for a charter flight to Paris Sunday and made a mad dash to the gate. In the confusion, their daughter got lost.

The incident happened on what Israeli media said was one of the busiest days of the year at the Israeli airport, with thousands of people leaving for summer vacations.

The parents were unaware they had boarded the aircraft with only four children instead of five until they were informed by cabin staff after 40 minutes in the air.Lnk
