Last night, there were fireworks being set off all over the city — mostly Roman candles, but a few screamers as close as a building’s balcony next door. There has been a little roadside tent by the Esso selling them, and there were even some organized municipal displays downtown.

For Victoria Day?

Maybe I’m still an outsider/tourist, gawking at the local customs. Back home, fireworks are almost strictly a Canada Day thing. I think it is illegal to either sell them or to set them off without permission or something to that effect on PEI. Here, every apartment building had someone setting them off of balconies, front yards, and rooftops.
